Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight: Cluemaster Puzzle Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide
Cluemaster Puzzles in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are the 60 multi-step environmental puzzles hidden across Gotham's nine open-world districts — marked by the villain's telltale "1, 2, 3" signage rather than the Riddler's question marks, and solved with the same cast of seven characters, each contributing a specific gadget.
Solving all 60 unlocks the Batman Serial Suit and the A Watchful Collector achievement. Every puzzle location and its complete step-by-step solution is included on our LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight interactive maps.
Towers Reveal Them, The Dynamic Duo Unlocks Them
Unlike Bat-Symbols, Cluemaster Puzzle icons appear on the map after activating a district's Radio Tower — making the Radio Tower sweep one of the highest-value first moves in any 100% run.
But the system itself doesn't unlock until completing "The Dynamic Duo" mission — the Robin chapter where the first Cluemaster contraption is encountered mid-story.
Until that mission is done, no Cluemaster Puzzle icons will show on any map regardless of tower status.
Every Character Has a Role
No single character can solve all 60 puzzles. The full character toolkit across the guide's solutions:
Batman — Batclaw, Batarang (targets, cables), UV Vision (hidden footprints and codes), X-Ray Vision (pipe routing), Explosive Spray (breakable walls)
Nightwing — Electric Battle Staff, Electric Cable Launcher (battery and power solutions)
Batgirl — Hackarang (hacking terminals), Drone (remote camera/scanner for codes)
Catwoman — Whip (screws, large valves, distant levers)
Jim Gordon — Foam Sprayer (plugging holes, sealing mechanisms)
Talia al Ghul — Ninja Dash (passing through caged barriers)
Many puzzles lock out until the relevant character is unlocked through story progression — Nightwing after Ice Man Cometh, Batgirl after Out of Commission, Talia after Rough and Tumble.
If a puzzle can't be solved, the bottleneck is almost always a missing character rather than a missing solution.
Old Gotham West — 3 (fewest, but hosts the final "Riddler vs Cluemaster" room)
Puzzle Rooms: Why Icons Disappear
Each district contains at least one Puzzle Room — a dedicated chamber entered through a marked door, containing a more elaborate tiled-robot or multi-stage puzzle rather than a single outdoor mechanism.
Puzzle Rooms unlock progressively: completing one Puzzle Room elsewhere in Gotham unlocks the next district's room, so if a district's total looks lower than expected after tower activation, return after solving other Puzzle Rooms across the map.
The Final Payoff: Riddler vs Cluemaster
Collecting all 60 Cluemaster Puzzle Boxes AND all 61 Riddler Puzzle Boxes unlocks the "Riddler vs Cluemaster" Puzzle Room in Old Gotham West — the game's final and most elaborate puzzle, requiring the full character roster to complete.

Finally, use Robin's cable launcher on the dumpster by the pillar east of the Puzzle Box and the yellow anchor point up on the nearby wall (under a billboard).
